Role Description: The BAS Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Vaughan, ON. As a BAS Technician, you will support our Project Managers and installation team in delivering BAS installation and retrofit projects at Setpoint. Working alongside experienced BAS professionals, you will gain hands-on exposure to every phase of a project, including field installation, commissioning, service, system design, shop drawings, programming and graphics.
This role is the entry point to Setpoint's Project Manager Development Program. You will receive structured training and mentorship in HVAC and mechanical systems, building automation, controls programming, electrical controls, networking, and customer communication, with a clear path toward becoming a BAS Project Manager.
Responsibilities:
Field & Commissioning
- Support installation crews with the installation and commissioning of BAS projects
- Perform service calls to troubleshoot BAS hardware and software issues for customers
- Support Project Managers on active construction sites
- Coordinate and deliver parts and materials as required
Design & Engineering
- Review mechanical drawings and project specifications
- Support Project Managers in the design of BAS control systems
- Prepare shop drawings and update as-built documentation
Programming & Graphics
- Support Project Managers in programming BAS controllers
- Create and modify graphical interfaces for BAS systems
- Test control sequences and verify system operation during commissioning
Qualifications:
- Diploma, degree or certificate in Mechanical, Electrical or HVAC Technology, Building Automation, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or a related field is an asset but not required
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, mechanical or BAS systems
- Electrical troubleshooting, networking/IT knowledge, or experience reading technical drawings is an asset
- A demonstrated history of self-learning and a strong desire to build a long-term career in BAS
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Takes initiative and works well both independently and as part of a team
- Effective communication skills with teammates and customers
- Valid Ontario G driver's license and ability to travel to sites across the GTA
