Role Description The Millwork Computer Aided Design Drafter and Miscellaneous Metal Drafter is a full-time, on-site role based in Toronto, ON. This role is responsible for preparing detailed CAD drawings for custom millwork fixtures and miscellaneous metal components, including plans, elevations, sections, and fabrication details. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting design concepts and architectural drawings, translating them into precise engineering and shop drawings, and coordinating with project managers, engineers, and production teams to ensure manufacturability and adherence to specifications. The drafter reviews and updates drawings based on feedback, maintains organized drawing files and documentation, and helps resolve technical issues during fabrication. The role may also involve collaborating with suppliers, checking dimensions and materials, and contributing to continuous improvement of drafting standards and templates.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), with experience using industry-standard drafting software for millwork and metal fabrication.
- Candidates should possess skills in Technical Drawing and Engineering Drawings, with the ability to produce accurate shop drawings and fabrication documents.
- Candidates should possess skills in Drawing and Architectural Drawings, including reading and interpreting design intent, construction documents, and specifications.
- Relevant experience in millwork, custom fixtures, furniture, or metal fabrication drafting in a manufacturing or retail environment.
- Strong attention to detail, dimensional accuracy, and quality control, with the ability to work to tight tolerances and project deadlines.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with designers, engineers, and production staff on-site.
- Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Industrial Design, Engineering Technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of materials, hardware, joinery methods, and manufacturing processes for wood, metal, and mixed materials is an asset.
