We are seeking an ambitious Business Development Manager (BDM) to drive business development, customer acquisition, strategic partnerships, and market expansion for Sevens.
Position Summary
The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities, building strategic customer and partner relationships, and creating a strong commercial pipeline for Sevens.
The BDM will work closely with the product, engineering, and commercial teams to identify target markets, engage enterprise decision-makers, develop pilot opportunities, secure LOIs and partnerships, and support the conversion of opportunities into commercial deployments.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Growth
- Develop and execute business development strategies aligned with Sevens' commercialization and growth objectives.
- Identify and pursue new customer segments, industries, and market opportunities.
- Build and manage a qualified B2B sales and partnership pipeline.
- Identify organizations with significant connectivity requirements or operational exposure to connectivity disruptions.
- Develop relationships with enterprise decision-makers across technology, operations, fleet, logistics, procurement, and innovation functions.
- Generate qualified opportunities through prospecting, networking, referrals, industry events, and strategic outreach.
Enterprise Sales & Customer Development
- Lead the business-development process from prospect identification through discovery, qualification, pilot, negotiation, and commercial deployment.
- Conduct customer discovery meetings to understand connectivity challenges, operational requirements, and business impact.
- Develop compelling business cases and value propositions based on customer needs.
- Identify and secure enterprise pilot opportunities, LOIs, and commercial agreements.
- Work with technical and product teams to translate customer requirements into pilot and deployment opportunities.
- Maintain strong relationships with prospects and customers throughout the sales cycle.
Strategic Partnerships
- Identify and develop strategic partnerships with telecom operators, satellite providers, IoT companies, technology providers, system integrators, distributors, resellers, and channel partners.
- Develop channel and distribution opportunities to expand Sevens' market reach.
- Establish relationships with strategic organizations that can accelerate customer acquisition and commercialization.
- Support the development and negotiation of partnership and commercial agreements.
- Represent Sevens in partner meetings, industry events, conferences, and executive discussions.
Market Development & GTM
- Research and prioritize high-value industries and use cases for Sevens.
- Develop market-entry strategies for Canada, the United States, and other target markets.
- Monitor competitors, market trends, customer requirements, and emerging connectivity technologies.
- Provide market intelligence and customer feedback to the leadership and product teams.
- Support the development of pricing, packaging, positioning, and go-to-market strategies.
- Identify new applications and commercial opportunities for Sevens' technology.
Pipeline & Revenue Operations
- Maintain accurate customer, prospect, and partnership information within the CRM.
- Manage opportunity stages from prospecting through pilot, LOI, contract, and deployment.
- Establish and monitor business-development KPIs and pipeline metrics.
- Prepare regular pipeline, opportunity, and market-development reports.
- Track conversion rates, sales-cycle progression, and business-development performance.
- Continuously improve prospecting, qualification, and business-development processes.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Technology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of progressive experience in business development, B2B sales, partnerships, or a related commercial role.
- Proven ability to identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities.
- Experience developing relationships with enterprise customers and decision-makers.
- Strong prospecting, networking, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong understanding of B2B sales cycles and business-development processes.
- Experience using CRM platforms such as HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar.
- Excellent communication, commercial, and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working in an early-stage technology environment.
Preferred
- Experience in telecommunications, connectivity, IoT, satellite communications, fleet technology, logistics, transportation, or enterprise technology.
- Experience selling technology products involving hardware, software, and recurring services.
- Experience securing enterprise pilots, LOIs, or strategic partnerships.
- Experience working with distributors, resellers, VARs, or system integrators.
- Existing relationships within telecom, logistics, transportation, fleet, IoT, utilities, or other connectivity-dependent industries.
- Experience developing business across Canada and the United States.
- Startup or scale-up experience.
- Experience commercializing emerging or technically complex technologies.
