SFTY LTD | Calgary and Surrounding Area
Compensation: $35–$45 per hour, based on relevant experience, qualifications and demonstrated competency.
Work setting: Client sites, with associated reporting and office responsibilities.
Bring practical safety leadership to the jobsite.
SFTY LTD is seeking an Intermediate Health & Safety Advisor / Safety Coach to provide hands-on safety support to our clients in Calgary and the surrounding area.
This role involves regular visits to residential, multi-family and commercial construction sites, with opportunities to support industrial and oil and gas assignments. You will work directly with workers, supervisors and contractors, including mechanical, electrical, HVAC and plumbing trades.
We are looking for someone who can build relationships, recognize hazards, communicate clear expectations and follow through on corrective actions. This is a field-focused role - not solely an administrative safety position.
What You Will Do
- Visit and support multiple client sites. Plan and complete regular site visits, observe work activities, conduct inspections and provide practical safety advice suited to the work being performed.
- Coach workers and supervisors. Support hazard identification, safe work practices and effective controls through respectful conversations, toolbox talks, orientations and safety meetings.
- Review hazards and documentation. Review field-level hazard assessments, safe work procedures and site-specific requirements, checking that documented controls are understood and applied in the field.
- Follow corrective actions through to completion. Document findings, communicate priorities, coordinate follow-up with site supervision and verify that identified concerns have been addressed.
- Support incident prevention and investigation. Assist with incident and near-miss reporting, fact gathering and corrective-action development. Promptly escalate significant hazards and matters requiring senior technical support.
- Maintain clear client reporting. Prepare inspection reports, site-visit summaries and activity records; support safety-program implementation and COR/SECOR audit readiness while managing commitments across assigned clients.
What You Bring
- At least three years of relevant health and safety experience, including practical field experience in construction, industrial operations or contractor support.
- An NCSO designation, occupational health and safety certificate or diploma, or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience.
- Working knowledge of Alberta occupational health and safety requirements and the ability to translate them into practical site expectations.
- Strong communication, report-writing and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently, manage multiple sites and address concerns professionally.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel between assigned sites, along with proficiency in Microsoft 365 and digital inspection and reporting tools.
Additional assets: A construction trade background or journeyperson qualification; experience supporting mechanical, electrical, HVAC or plumbing contractors; familiarity with COR/SECOR requirements; and experience using platforms such as SALUS, SiteDocs or Workhub.
Why SFTY LTD?
Work across a variety of clients and projects while contributing directly to safer workplaces. You will bring your field experience to a consulting team that values practical solutions, professional communication, worker engagement and dependable follow-up.
We value advisors who can work collaboratively while remaining clear and consistent about safety expectations - and who recognize when to seek additional technical guidance.
