We are looking for an Underwriter to join our Personal Auto team in Toronto.
In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing, evaluating and determining insurability for routine and minimally complex new and renewal applications for Coachman Insurance Company personal auto (non-standard insurance products. You will also examine the nature and degree of risk involved, negotiate conditions, rates and premiums with brokers and processes insurance policies.
What You Bring
We want to hear from you if you:
- Have a solid understanding of insurance principles, underwriting practices, and applicable products.
- Understand premiums, coverages, deductibles, and billing practices for applicable products.
- Experience working with the Guidewire application system.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and sound decision‑making abilities.
- A relationship‑focused mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively with brokers and internal teams.
- Effective communication skills.
These skills are typically acquired through a two-year diploma in a relevant field of study such as Business along with one to two years of experience in underwriting.
