About The Opportunity
- Prepare fresh, nutritious, and delicious meals that enhance the dining experience and well-being of our residents.
- Assists with preparation of food for special functions (e.g. catering, theme dinners) to ensure service meets established standards;
- Prepare meals according to established recipes, menus, and therapeutic dietary requirements while maintaining quality and presentation standards.
- Reports any recipe shortages, discrepancies or quality issues to the Executive Chef or supervisor in a timely manner;
- Clean and sanitize cooking station daily; maintain the cleanliness of kitchen equipment such as ovens, kettles, mixers, and others in order to maintain safety and sanitation in the kitchen to meet legislative and organizational standards; responsible for the clear and correct labeling of excess food;
- Follows disposal procedures according to established waste management guidelines for organics, paper, plastics, cans/bottles, non-recyclable material, etc;
About You
In addition to placing high value on continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability, you bring:
- Enjoys preparing high-quality meals in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Takes pride in food safety, consistency, and presentation
- Works well independently and as part of a team
- Has previous cooking experience (1+ year preferred)
- A high-school diploma or a GED;
- Current food handlers’ certificate (preferred);
- Ability to provide a clear criminal record check upon hire;
- A passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services and care.
