The Department of Internal Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba, and Shared Health Manitoba invite applications for Physicians in the Department of Internal Medicine. The successful applicant will work closely with the Section of General Internal Medicine to provide inpatient and outpatient care at the Health Sciences Center, St. Boniface Hospital, and Grace Hospital.
The 66 faculty members in general internal medicine form a section that oversees the major in-patient and out-patient clinical care services at the three teaching hospitals in Winnipeg. Section physicians provide clinical attending services on a variety of Clinical Teaching Units, Non-Teaching Units, Virtual Ward, Inpatient Consult Services, Screening coverage in the emergency rooms, and numerous ambulatory care clinics at Winnipeg’s tertiary care centres and acute care hospitals. The practice provides exception breadth of clinical experience, with patients representing a wide range of disease processes and acuity – from common conditions to highly complex, acute illness. We have a diverse faculty with niche training including, but not limited to: Hypertension, Lipids, Bariatrics, OBIM, Thrombosis, Vascular Medicine, Medical Education, and POCUS. Our section is open to expanding other areas of focus.
The successful applicant will provide comprehensive, integrated care, treatment and support to all patients within General Internal Medicine. As part of the health care team, these Physicians must be able to interact in a positive manner with other members of the care team, patients and their families to create a pleasant working environment and to provide optimal patient care.
Qualifications
Candidates must have qualifications in General Internal Medicine in the country of current practice and must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. Certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada is required. The Section of GIM is looking for physicians who have advanced training in POCUS or additional training in a clinical niche.
This is a nil academic daily stipend plus fee for service position, with a start date of as soon as possible based on the successful candidate’s availability, for a term to be negotiated renewable upon favorable review.
