RESPIROLOGIST - PRA ELEGIBLE
Brandon, Manitoba
Work Location: On site - Brandon Regional Health Centre (150 McTavish Ave East, Brandon, MB R7A 2B3)
Anticipated Start Date: February 2027
Anticipated Shift: Full Time, Days, Early Mornings, Mornings, Evenings, Nights, On Call, Weekends
Daily Hours Worked: Various hour shifts (30 to 40 hours per week)
Position Type: Fee for service
Wage Rate: Compensation is fee-for-service as per the Doctors Manitoba and Manitoba Health a Manitoba Health, Seniors and Active Living negotiated rates.
Position Summary
As the second largest city in Manitoba, with a population of 60,000 and growing, Brandon is the main hub and referral site for southwestern Manitoba, with a catchment area of approximately 200,000 people. Brandon Regional Health Centre is a fully accredited multi-specialty facility with 300+ bed capacity and opened a new Critical Care Building in June 2026.
Brandon Regional Health Centre is a satellite campus for the University of Manitoba and the Rady Faulty of Medicine and offers the opportunity to contribute to the teaching/mentoring of medical learners.
The Brandon Region Health Centre Surgical Suite has 7 operating rooms with one minor surgery procedure room and supports 56 surgical beds. There is an Endoscopy Unit with three endoscopy rooms, offering a high level of service to the Region. Our on-site diagnostic services include radiology, ultrasound, CT, MRI and nuclear medicine.
There is a wide range of specialist services available onsite including pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, anesthesia, general surgery, urology, oncology, orthopedic surgery, and internal medicine. Thoracis surgery is available in Winnipeg, 200 km from Brandon.
The successful applicant will be one of two Respirologists. They must be able to work within an interdisciplinary team and function well in a high-volume environment with a commitment to provide high-quality patient and family-centered care. The successful applicant will specialize in Respirology and provide inpatient consultations at the Brandon Regional Health Centre as well as outpatient Respirology consultations and patient care in the City of Brandon. Applicants will have the opportunity to join one of the private clinics located in the city.

Responsibilities
- Diagnose diseases and physiological disorders
- Treat several lung diseases including airway diseases, pulmonary hypertension, interstitial lung disease, tuberculosis and chronic respiratory failure.
- Procedural expertise in basic thoracic ultrasound, thoracentesis, small bore chest drain insertion, bronchoscopy (flexible fiberoptic, non-interventional) and interpret Pulmonary Function Tests.
- Provide comprehensive, integrated care, treatment and support to patients with respiratory disease.
- Prescribe medication and treatment
- Act as consultants to other physicians
- Order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures
Credentials
- Doctor of Medicine Degree
- Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
- Current licensure or eligibility for full license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba
- Must have CMPA Coverage or provide proof of equivalent malpractice insurance

Additional Information
Security and safety:
- Complete and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check and Child Abuse Registry Check, as appropriate.
- All Health Care workers are required to be immunized as a condition of employment in accordance with the Prairie Mountain Health policy.
