Job Summary:
The successful applicant will work directly with 1 to 2 lawyer(s) in the area of labour and employment law. The position will require strong skills in administrative support and civil litigation. The successful applicant will need to be organized, team oriented, and comfortable working in a boutique practice.
Responsibilities will include:
- Drafting, preparing and typing of correspondence, accounts, pleadings, briefs, various litigation documents and court forms.
- Arranging for service and filing of documents and related instructions to process servers.
- Entering and maintaining lawyer’s dockets.
- Corresponding with corporate clients.
- Managing files and records.
- Transcribing dictations.
- Preparing and updating forms such as cheque requisitions and expense reports.
- Scheduling appointments and meetings, photocopying materials, booking meeting rooms, making travel arrangements, etc.
- Support other assistants on an as needed basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements will include:
- Knowledge of civil litigation procedures.
- The ability to work in a team environment and help others.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Experience using Microsoft Office.
- Minimum 70 wpm typing speed.
- Knowledge of accounting/docketing systems.
- Strong grammatical skills and a great attention to detail.
