About Sielo
Sielo Robotics is building Canadian robots to help people with severe disabilities care for themselves and help North American manufacturers expand their production.
To do that, we’re developing a wheelchair-mounted robotic arm for everyday independence and flexible robot cells for manufacturing automation. Both require solving the same fundamental challenge: making capable, reliable robotics affordable and intelligent enough for widespread use.
We’re looking for exceptional mechanical and mechatronics talent who can help us build and deploy that hardware.
The role
You’ll own substantial mechanical development, working closely with our controls, mechatronics, and software engineers. Your primary focus will be preparing our arm for commercialization and deployment, with opportunities to adapt it for industrial applications too.
Responsibilities
- Design and refine mechanisms, joints, the wrist, gripper, mounts, and folding system.
- Improve precision, speed, durability, safety, and serviceability.
- Build prototypes, measure performance, investigate failures, and validate improvements.
- Produce manufacturing drawings, specify tolerances, and work directly with suppliers.
- Apply design for manufacturing and assembly to simplify production and maintenance.
- Support deployments and turn field feedback into engineering improvements.
What we’re looking for
- A mechanical or mechatronics engineering background.
- Substantial experience building robots or moving mechanical systems, ideally through deployment.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or comparable CAD tools.
- Strong understanding of mechanisms, materials, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.
- Practical experience with design for manufacturing and assembly.
- The ability to independently take a mechanical problem from requirements through to a tested, working solution.
Nice to have
- Machining and fabrication experience.
- Industrial automation experience.
- PLC programming.
- Experience integrating or deploying other robotic platforms.
