Role Description The Sander/Spray Finisher is a full-time, on-site role based in Caledonia, ON, responsible for preparing and finishing custom cabinetry and millwork components. Day-to-day tasks include sanding wood surfaces to specified smoothness, mixing and applying paints and finishes using spray equipment, and ensuring consistent color and texture across all pieces. The role involves inspecting work for quality, making touch-ups as needed, and maintaining finishing booths, tools, and equipment in a clean and safe condition. The Sander/Spray Finisher will work closely with other team members to meet production schedules, follow safety protocols, and uphold Silverbirch’s quality standards.
Qualifications
- Ability to safely operate and maintain power tools and spray equipment used in sanding and finishing.
- Knowledge of paint and finishing products, including proper mixing, application, and curing techniques.
- Experience with painting and spray finishing, including surface prep, masking, and achieving smooth, even coats.
- Hands-on experience working with furniture, cabinetry, or millwork in a workshop or production environment.
- Willingness to participate in training and continuous skill development, with strong attention to detail and quality.
- Understanding of workplace safety practices, including PPE use and handling of finishing materials.
- Ability to read and follow work orders, production schedules, and basic drawings or specifications.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to perform physical tasks such as standing, lifting, and manual handling throughout the shift.
- Previous experience in woodworking or finishing is preferred; apprenticeship or vocational training in a related field is an asset.
