Contract · Project-based · Two-phase engagement
We are a university-based research team seeking an experienced iOS developer (or small development team) for a contract opportunity to build an iOS mobile application.
This is a project-based contract, not university employment. The work is structured in two phases:
Phase 1 – Technical Feasibility
A focused spike to validate core technical requirements (real-time audio capture/playback, on-device ML inference, latency, and iOS background/audio session behaviour) and recommend an architecture before full development begins.
Phase 2 – Full MVP
If Phase 1 confirms feasibility, the same developer/team will continue to build the full MVP under an agreed scope, timeline, and budget.
What we’re looking for
- Strong experience developing and shipping native iOS apps in Swift
- Solid proficiency with Xcode, iOS SDKs, and Apple development tools
- Experience with real-time audio capture/playback or iOS audio frameworks (strongly preferred)
- Experience running on-device ML models with Core ML and/or TensorFlow Lite (strongly preferred)
- Ability to write clean, well-documented code and work independently while communicating clearly with a technical team
- Familiarity with testing, profiling, optimization, and App Store processes
- Experience with research, accessibility, audio, signal processing, or machine-learning applications is a plus.
How to apply
Please send:
- A short introduction and relevant experience
- Portfolio or examples of iOS apps you’ve built
- Any experience with real-time audio and/or on-device ML
- Your availability
- An initial indication of rate or pricing approach
- Shortlisted candidates will be contacted to discuss the technical requirements and next steps in more detail.
