Summary:
Position: Junior Buyer
Department: Material and Planning
Report to: Department Manager
Work Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: $45,000.00 to $60,000.00
Location: Aurora, Ontario
As Junior Buyer, you are responsible for the timely procurement of goods and services to ensure cost effective commensurate with quality. You must promote and maintain a high level of communication and liaison with the external supplier community and internal departments. It is expected that you will conduct business with the best interest of Sinclair in mind while following strong ethical and moral values.
What You’ll Do:
- Ensure purchasing practices comply with company policy, regulatory and legal compliance
- Review MRP/MPS requirements and place purchase orders for materials, components, and services to support production schedules
- Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier information in the ERP system, including purchase orders, pricing, lead times, delivery dates and other relevant purchasing data
- Manage open purchase orders and proactively expedite outstanding deliveries to ensure materials availability when required
- Work closely with the Planning team to review daily material and service requirements and identify potential shortages or supply risks
- Work with suppliers at the commodity level to improve cost, quality, lead time, and delivery performance
- Coordinate with Quality, Engineering, Production, and suppliers to resolve non-conformance issues and implement corrective actions in a timely manner
- Review bills of material, engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements as necessary to support purchasing activities.
- Support supplier qualification, development, alternate sourcing, and dual-sourcing initiatives as required.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, process improvement, standardization, and improved purchasing efficiency.
- Liaise with customs brokers and freight providers to resolve import, customs, and shipping issues when required
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring:
- Minimum 1–2 years of purchasing/buying experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Post-secondary diploma or degree
- Working knowledge of MRP/MPS, demand planning, forecasting, inventory management, and material requirements planning
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with suppliers and internal departments
- Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements
- General knowledge of mechanical manufacturing processes, materials, tolerances, and components.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications
- Previous experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is an asset
- Experience in RF, telecommunications, electronics, or related manufacturing industries is an asset
