Job Summary:
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily activities of the maintenance team, ensuring all maintenance tasks are completed in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner. This position will provide leadership and support for a collaborative and positive working rapport between the maintenance team and production. The Maintenance Supervisor will also be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing maintenance projects and initiatives to improve the overall efficiency of the department.
Responsibilities:
- Build and lead a high-performing maintenance team, focusing on collaboration and a solutions-oriented approach
- Create clear expectations for the team and hold them accountable for meeting performance standards
- Recommend, plan, lead and participate in process improvement, cost reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Develop standard procedures to ensure maintenance tasks are performed safely and with quality
- Oversee the installation/maintenance of all mechanical/electrical equipment and materials, ensuring compliance with manufacturer’s specifications and code requirements
- Manage key KPIs, related to mill operation.
- Work closely with the operations team to identify and implement site-wide improvements and initiatives
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, quality, and maintenance standards and programs
- Maintain positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- Prepare timely reports and maintain accurate records and files
- Ensure that parts, materials, specialized tools, and equipment are in place for efficient execution of planned work
- Develop, populate, and maintain a comprehensive database designed to monitor and improve maintenance department efficiency, including identifying areas for cost savings and preventative maintenance schedules
- Report on employee attendance, time of work, and track and manage holiday requests
Qualifications and Education:
- Minimum of five years of experience in reliable maintenance
- 5 years of supervisory experience preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of work management processes
- Comprehensive understanding of maintenance best practices and protocols
- Understanding of predictive and reliable maintenance
- Red Seal Trade Certification as a Millwright or Electrician is an asset
- Demonstrated skills or knowledge of budgeting and financial analysis
- Proven ability to hold people accountable
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build a rapport and work with integrity
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and tasks, and demonstrate strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of MP2, NAV, and ADP WorkforceNow is an asset
- Proven commitment to safety management and leadership
