The Manager, People & Culture works with the Human Resources management team to support key HR programs and services, including employee relations, recruitment, onboarding and offboarding, benefits, payroll, health and wellness, and employee programs. The role serves as a resource for employees and managers and escalates complex or sensitive matters to Human Resources management as appropriate.
Employee Relations & Support
- Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding HR programs, policies, benefits, payroll, and workplace matters.
- Provide timely and professional support to employees and managers while maintaining confidentiality.
- Support routine employee relations matters and escalate complex or sensitive issues as appropriate.
Recruitment & Hiring
- Coordinate recruitment and hiring activities, including postings, interviews, candidate communications, offers, approvals, and pre-employment requirements.
- Work with hiring managers and internal teams to coordinate onboarding and ensure new hire requirements are completed.
- Maintain recruitment documentation and track hiring activities.
Benefits, Wellness & Employee Programs
- Administer employee benefit programs and respond to employee questions regarding enrolment, changes, claims, and available programs.
- Liaise with benefit providers, brokers, and other external partners and support annual renewals and employee communications.
- Coordinate employee wellness, recognition, and other workplace programs and initiatives.
- Participate as the management representative on the Workplace Health & Safety Committee.
Payroll Administration
- Enter and maintain employee information in HRIS and payroll system as required.
- Work with Finance and Human Resources to support the timely and accurate flow of payroll-related information.
- Review payroll entries prior to processing, as required.
- Assist the Controller's Group with payroll reviews and process audits.
Qualifications & Skills
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related field.
- Human Resources management experience in an employee services, generalist, or similar role.
- Working knowledge of benefits and payroll administration.
- Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and follow-up skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and appropriately escalate complex matters.
- Proficiency with HRIS, payroll, benefits, Microsoft Office, and related business systems.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
