Role Description The Part-time Welding Instructor will deliver in-person welding training sessions to learners at Skillworks Training and Career Centre in the Greater Kitchener-Cambridge-Waterloo Metropolitan Area. This is an on-site role focused on teaching safe and effective welding practices, demonstrating techniques, and supervising hands-on lab work. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, delivering classroom and shop-based instruction, evaluating student performance, and providing feedback to support skill development. The instructor will maintain a safe training environment, ensure proper use of equipment, and uphold institutional standards and regulatory requirements. Collaboration with other trainers and staff to align course content with industry needs and support student job readiness is also expected.
Qualifications
- Strong practical welding skills, including experience with pipe welding and FCAW processes.
- Ability to develop and refine training materials, with proven curriculum development experience.
- Knowledge of welding inspection practices and standards, and ability to teach quality and safety requirements.
- Relevant trade certification or journeyperson status in welding, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous teaching, training, or mentoring experience in an educational or workplace setting is an asset.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety protocols and the proper operation and maintenance of welding equipment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support diverse learners and promote an inclusive learning environment.
- Availability to work part time on-site in the Greater Kitchener-Cambridge-Waterloo area, including evenings or weekends as needed.
