Description
Skyworks Solutions is looking for a motivated Electrical Engineering student to join our Ottawa-based team as a Co-Op for a 12-month term from January through December 2027.
As part of a multidisciplinary engineering organization, you will work alongside experienced RFIC, analog IC, and module designers involved in the development of advanced wireless semiconductor products. This role offers hands-on exposure to both RF integrated circuit design and laboratory characterization, providing an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills applicable to a career in RF and analog IC engineering.
The successful candidate will contribute to projects spanning multiple technologies and integrated circuit platforms, supporting the development and delivery of high-performance RF solutions for wireless applications. You will also have opportunities to collaborate with engineers across different functions and locations and gain insight into the complete product development cycle, from initial design through validation and production.

This co-op provides an opportunity to develop practical experience in RFIC and analog circuit design, simulation, measurement, and product engineering while working closely with experienced engineers. You will gain exposure to the challenges of developing semiconductor products and see how RF circuits move from engineering concepts through laboratory validation and ultimately into high-volume production.

Working within this environment will provide broad exposure to the technologies and engineering disciplines involved in bringing sophisticated RF products to market.
Responsibilities
- Support the design, simulation, evaluation, and characterization of RF and analog integrated circuits and highly integrated wireless front-end modules.
- Perform laboratory measurements and analyze data to assess circuit and product performance.
- Contribute to the development of RF circuits and components used in wireless applications, including Wi-Fi and other RF technologies.
- Assist with new product introduction, engineering development, and design activities.
- Work with senior engineers to investigate technical issues, interpret measurement results, and identify potential design improvements.
- Use simulation and circuit-design tools to support analysis and development activities.
- Document technical findings, test results, and design work clearly and effectively.
- Collaborate with engineers and technical teams across different disciplines and locations.
Required Experience And Skills
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Physics, or a closely related field.
- Available to work full-time onsite in Ottawa from January through December 2027.
- Solid understanding of fundamental electronic circuits and principles.
- Knowledge of RF/microwave circuits, analog circuits, electromagnetic fields, and semiconductor devices is highly desirable.
- Interest in RF and analog integrated circuit design, simulation, and laboratory measurement.
- Familiarity with semiconductor device operation and integrated circuit technologies.
- Previous academic or project experience with RF circuits, Power Amplifiers (PA), Low Noise Amplifiers (LNA), or other RF/microwave components is an asset.
- Experience with engineering tools such as Cadence, Keysight ADS, Ansys HFSS, or equivalent is considered an advantage.
- Comfortable working with laboratory equipment and analyzing experimental data.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word, and the ability to quickly learn new engineering software and internal tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
- Self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced engineering environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and documentation skills.
The typical pay range for an intern is currently CAD $25.00 - $44.00 per hour. Starting base pay will depend on level of education and the ultimate job duties and requirements.
