Position Summary:
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the AM Raw Production Supervisor coordinates/oversees all operations related to the raw product including the Trimming line, Injection, Stuffing, Smokehouse and AM Sanitation teams. They ensure the production standards for safety, regulatory compliance, environment, quality, customer service and cost are met. As part of the Plant’s leadership team, supports building and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Accountabilities:
- Coordinate/oversee all production operations on the morning shift, across Injection, Stuffing, Smokehouse, and AM Sanitation, in accordance with approved production standards, plans / schedules to meet business objectives. Providing guidance to hourly employees on the assigned shift to achieve work objectives, as well as improvements on performance and skills.
- Checking Production Records against established production schedules.
- Ensuring SOPs, Job Aids, Work Instructions, Equipment Centrelines are up-to-date, rigorously followed and continuously improved.
- Managing work processes so that the production capacity is maintained, quality expectations and product specifications are fulfilled, processes are safe, efficient, and meet regulatory, safety and customer requirements.
- Providing guidance to and overseeing the activities of the on-site Sanitation team.
- Monitoring production performance using established criteria / production performance indicators (i.e., health and safety; food safety and quality, customer service, cost, etc.), and reporting variances to the Plant Manager (i.e., yield reports)
- Ensuring compliance with safety rules and regulations to minimize industrial injuries and meet regulatory requirements.
- Through establishing an appropriate feedback mechanism with Production Supervisors, gather, analyse, and report information on production-related issues; recommend corrective actions.
- Guide, the Lead Hands and employees on compliance with the Plant’s policies. Partner with Human Resources and Plant Management to ensure escalated issues are dealt with in a consistent manner and adhere to company policies.
- Other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.
Requirements:
- Post-Secondary degree or diploma with a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant solid supervisory work experience in a food processing environment; a combination of education and experience (with emphasis on food processing) will be considered an asset.
- Hands on experience in supervising a non-unionized and/or unionized work environment.
- Strong knowledge of GMP’s, HACCP, and OH&S.
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage within the Plant’s policies and Human Resources policies.
- Strong computer skills such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Previous knowledge of Kronos will be considered an asset.
- Ability to work under pressure.
Job Posting Range:
- Hiring Range: CAD $56,523 - $75,458
- Bonus: This position is eligible for a bonus up to 7% of base salary subject to the plan terms and conditions.
- Please note that the expected hiring range provided is derived from a group of like roles within Sofina. The final offer amount for this role will be dependent on geographical region, applicable experience, skillset of the candidate and internal equity.
