Position Overview About The Role
We are currently seeking an
Intermediate Civil Engineer with a P.Eng to support our dynamic team. As an integral member of the team, you will provide accurate civil designs and will have an opportunity to lead a small team of civil engineers and designers to ensure projects are executed in an efficient, cost effective, and timely manner. You will have a strong desire to complete projects as accurately and as efficiently as possible.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed civil engineering designs, drawing, specifications, and contract documents for site development projects, including grading, earthworks, drainage systems, roadways, fencing, erosions and sediment control and retaining walls.
- Develop preliminary concepts and sketches into coordinated engineering designs and plans using Civil 3D and other applicable technical software.
- Prepare design sketches and technical direction for drafting staff and review completed drawings for accuracy, completeness, constructability, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Prepare and review design reports, technical memoranda, letters, specifications, approval documents, and development and construction cost estimates.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs and assist in preparing documents required for regulatory, development, and construction approvals.
- Plan and coordinate engineering and drafting activities, forecast labour requirements, and provide input to project schedules.
- Monitor engineering and drafting progress and contribute to project progress reports.
- Ensure the technical accuracy and quality of all engineering deliverables.
Skills & Qualifications
- Post-secondary education with a degree in Civil Engineering.
- At least 4 - 7+ years of experience in a similar role.
- Registered or eligible to register as a P. Eng with EGBC.
- Registration in the US as a PE would be considered an asset.
- Proficient in the application of specialized design software such Civil 3D, PCSWMM, AutoTURN, or equivalent.
- Experience on stormwater modelling, flood hazard assessment, slope stability assessments, or traffic impact study would be an asset.
- Experience in the Oil and Gas industry would be an asset.
- Strong leadership capabilities with the ability and desire to supervise a small group of professionals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism.
- Strong understanding and application of engineering codes and standards.
- Ability to work with limited supervision, but open-minded with the ability to follow instructions.
