For over 45 years, Source Display has designed and built store fixtures and material handling carts for North America’s biggest retailers, including Loblaws, Sobeys, Walmart, Savemart, Kroger, 7-Eleven, Save on Foods, and Best Buy, to name a few.
In addition to store fixtures and carts, we design, build, and install storage lockers, bike lockers, bike racks, and a wide range of parking facility fit-out items, including bollards, pipe protectors, guard rails, and various fencing solutions. Our clients in this segment include Western Canada’s top builders like
Axiom, Anthem, Blue City, Concert, ITC, Ledcor, Marcon, Onni, Peak, Townline and Wesgroup and many others.
Job responsibilities:
Drafting and design:
- Maintain and update existing product designs and drawings, and manage revisions
- Create shop drawings, 3D models and submittal drawings in SolidWorks
- Design new products and one-off fabrications when a project calls for it
- Turn client requirements into accurate, buildable designs
- Work directly with clients on specifications, measurements, design details and revisions
- Work with sales, production and install teams on project solutions
- Coordinate with structural engineers to get designs sealed
- Prepare BOMs and keep drawing files and revisions organized
- Troubleshoot design and production issues with the shop floor personnel
Takeoffs and quoting:
- Reviewing architectural drawings to count and size locker/bike parking scope
- Producing locker and bike room layouts for quotes
- Supporting sales with quantities and pricing inputs
- Checking layouts against bylaw/spacing requirements
As per the above, this is not just a heads-down drafting job. This is a dynamic position that offers significant variety and the opportunity to provide solutions to a variety of real-world challenges in both the retail and building construction industries.
What you bring:
- 3+ years of drafting experience
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and Bluebeam
- Proficiency with imperial and metric systems of measurement
- Ability to read architectural and construction drawings
- Experience in the metal fabrication and/or construction industry
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects at once
Who you are:
You're technically sharp, curious, and you like working with people. You're comfortable picking up the phone with a site superintendent or a project manager, asking the right questions, explaining a design clearly, and building good working relationships inside and outside the company.
