Position Summary
We are looking for a Graphic Design Intern to help modernize the visual design of Reliability Solutions training courses. In this internship, you will work with the Marketing Director, the product development team, and subject-matter experts to make technical learning materials clearer, more consistent, and easier to use. You will contribute to a visual design system and help redesign selected slide decks, workbooks, handouts, diagrams, and digital learning assets.
Key Responsibilities
Visual Design System and Templates
- Review existing course materials and identify opportunities to improve visual hierarchy, consistency, readability, and accessibility.
- Help develop typography, colour, layout, icon, and diagram standards that align with the Reliability Solutions brand.
- Create or adapt reusable presentation, workbook, and handout templates that other team members can maintain.
Training Course Design
- Apply approved templates and design standards to a pilot course and selected priority training materials.
- Redesign slides and participant materials to make technical content easier to follow in print, on screen, and in the classroom.
- Prepare editable source files and production-ready assets for review, printing, or digital delivery.
Technical Graphics and Collaboration
- Create or update diagrams, icons, illustrations, and visual explainers for maintenance, reliability, and lubrication topics.
- Work with subject-matter experts to confirm the technical accuracy of visuals and incorporate their feedback.
- Share progress in regular check-ins, organize working files, and document templates and design decisions for future use.
The initial pilot is Essential Craft Skills 1, Precision Maintenance: Assembly & Installation. Other courses may be assigned based on progress and project priorities.
Qualifications
- Currently studying graphic design, visual communication, or a related field.
- A portfolio or examples of student work showing strong layout, typography, visual communication, and attention to detail; professional design experience is not required.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop, with an interest in designing or adapting PowerPoint materials.
- Interest in translating complex information into clear visuals and willingness to learn from feedback.
- Strong organization, communication, and collaboration skills, including the ability to work with a remote team.
- Experience with educational materials, technical diagrams, Figma, Canva, or learning management systems is an asset.
In accordance with Bill 96, this position requires proficiency in English to serve customers in Atlantic Canada and interact with US suppliers to ensure effective communication and operational efficiency.
