Senior SharePoint / M365 Developer - Agentic AI
Vancouver, BC | Hybrid | Spot Solutions
If you think AI is going to change how software gets built, we agree.
But we're less interested in talking about it than we are in using it to build real software.
At Spot Solutions, we've incorporated Agentic AI into our development process. Used properly, we've found that it can make an experienced developer dramatically more productive - in some projects, allowing us to deliver software roughly twice as fast as we could previously.
We're looking for an experienced SharePoint / Microsoft 365 developer who wants to work this way.
This is not an "AI job"
It's a software development job where AI is becoming one of your most powerful tools.
You'll still need to understand architecture, security, testing, maintainability, and what makes software actually useful to the people who have to use it.
The difference is that you'll have AI agents helping you write, understand, test and improve that software.
We use tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Visual Studio and VS Code, and we're continually experimenting with better ways to use multiple models and agents.
If you've already gone well beyond basic AI-assisted coding, we'd love to talk to you.
If you haven't, but you're an excellent SharePoint developer who is curious about this new way of working, we'd also like to talk to you.
The unusual part of this job
We're looking for someone who can design, develop and support solutions across SharePoint and the broader Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
SharePoint is a significant part of the work.
You might be:
- Designing and developing SharePoint Online solutions
- Building Power Automate workflows
- Creating Power Apps
- Working with Microsoft Graph
- Writing PowerShell
- Migrating content with ShareGate
- Extending SharePoint with SPFx
- Working with Dataverse and other Microsoft 365 services
- Figuring out how to move a client's existing business process into Microsoft 365
- Helping clients determine whether SharePoint, Power Platform or a custom solution is the right fit
You may also occasionally work on custom software.
One project might involve extending a SharePoint solution with custom development. Another might involve building a C#/.NET application or API that integrates with Microsoft 365 or another business system.
Strong .NET and custom application development experience is valuable, but it isn't the primary focus of this role.
We don't automatically write custom software when a SharePoint or Power Platform solution is better.
And we don't force a low-code solution onto a problem that really needs custom software.
We choose the technology that best solves the problem.
That's one of the things that makes this role interesting.
What you'll bring
We're looking for a strong SharePoint / Microsoft 365 developer with:
Strong experience
- SharePoint Online
- Microsoft 365 development and solution design
- Power Apps and/or Power Automate
- PowerShell
- Microsoft Graph
- SharePoint architecture and application design
- SharePoint migrations and/or ShareGate
- Git
- Visual Studio and/or VS Code
Useful additional experience
- SPFx
- Dataverse
- Power BI
- JavaScript
- HTML / CSS / JSON
- Azure
- C# / .NET
- Web applications and APIs
- SQL / relational databases
- Other programming languages such as Python, PHP or Java
You don't need every item.
We're hiring a developer, not a checklist.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who understands how to build useful solutions in the Microsoft 365 ecosystem and can make good technology decisions for the problem at hand.
AI experience
We're particularly interested in people who have used AI agents for more than autocomplete or generating a few functions.
For example:
- Developing substantial applications with AI agents
- Using AI to analyze unfamiliar or legacy code
- AI-assisted architecture and design
- AI-assisted testing
- Prompt engineering and context management
- Multi-agent or multi-model workflows
- Establishing sensible review and testing practices for AI-generated code
You don't need every item.
What kind of person succeeds here?
Someone who:
- Gets genuinely interested when faced with a problem they've never solved before
- Can look at a business process and figure out what technology should - and shouldn't - be involved
- Understands when SharePoint/Microsoft 365 is the right answer and when custom development is warranted
- Doesn't confuse a technically impressive solution with a useful solution
- Can explain technical concepts to a business user
- Cares about the quality of the software they leave behind
- Is comfortable admitting "I don't know" and then figuring it out
- Enjoys learning
- Isn't afraid of new technology - but isn't impressed by technology simply because it's new
What you'll get
You'll work on different problems, with different clients, using different technologies - with SharePoint and Microsoft 365 at the center of much of the work.
You'll work alongside experienced developers and consultants who have spent years building everything from SharePoint and Microsoft 365 solutions to custom business applications.
You'll also get a front-row seat to something we think is going to fundamentally change software development: using Agentic AI as part of the development process rather than simply as a coding assistant.
And, because we're in Vancouver:
- Gastown location
- Close to SkyTrain
- Rooftop deck
- Friday lunches and knowledge-sharing
- Team events
- Snacks and drinks
- Flexible work environment
- Competitive compensation and benefits
Interested?
Don't just send us a résumé that simply says you have experience with 27 programming languages.
Tell us what you've actually built.
When you apply, answer these three questions:
- What's the most interesting SharePoint or Microsoft 365 solution you've built, and what did it accomplish?
- What have you personally done with SharePoint/Microsoft 365, including any Power Platform, Graph, PowerShell or migration work?
- What's the most sophisticated way you've used AI in software development?
Those answers will tell us much more than a list of buzzwords.
Come build useful things with us.
