As an integral member of the Diagnostic Imaging department, the responsibilities of the PACS/RIS Analyst include:
- Providing PACS and RIS database analysis and support to Diagnostic Imaging
- Providing decision support to the department workflow administration
- Participating actively in implementing, monitoring, managing and supporting the PACS/RIS systems and working to ensure their integrity
- Provide technical & system support, user training, and troubleshooting for radiologists, technologists, sonographers, and other healthcare staff and learners.
- Providing support to the PACS/RIS team to proactively maintain the PACS/RIS systems and successfully implement future upgrades
- Facilitate the integration, system integrity, efficiency, speed, storage and seamless data flow between PACS and HIS, RIS, other hospital information systems, third-party software applications, voice recognition/radiology reporting systems, modality worklists, other clinical systems, and downstream repositories (i.e., OCINet/HDIRS, Connecting Ontario, etc.); troubleshoot and resolve any system issues.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues, optimize workflows, maintain system integrity, and provide user support and training.
- Data reporting & quality control, including facilitating system updates, testing, and implementation of new features or applications within HIS, RIS, PACS, and radiology IT environments.
- Maintain the stability, performance, and security of PACS and associated radiology systems.
- Maintain all workstation configurations by ensuring they have the latest approved service patches, and are configured according to recommended specifications.
- Analyze system performance and workflows to identify areas for improvement; implement enhancements to optimize efficiency and user experience.
- Participate in system upgrades, patches, backups, and configurations in collaboration with IT and vendors.
- Participates actively in workflow enhancement projects by providing technical expertise to resolve ongoing workflow challenges in the department
- Collaborating with the Information Systems Department and other Clinical Systems Coordinators across the Health Centre in e-health initiatives.
- Collaborate with radiologists, technologists, sonographers, and other healthcare staff and learners to understand workflow needs and optimize system performance and workflows.
- Collaborate with external agencies (e.g., OCINet/HDIRS, Connecting Ontario, etc.) to manage networking and ensure accurate archival of health data.
- Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, manuals, and training materials.
- Communicates with PACS/RIS vendor to deal with issues that require vendor support and documentation and ascertain the most appropriate time to perform maintenance, upgrades or non-critical repairs so that the users experience the least inconvenience.
- Performing cross-functional duties as assigned or requested
- Communicate all critical issues to the PACS/RIS Administrator.
- On-call coverage as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in computer science, electronics, medical science or engineering required.
- Two years related technical experience with PACS, RIS, HL7, IHE and DICOM in healthcare IT required.
- Experience working in a fast paced technical environment delivering solutions to problems in a timely manner.
- Comprehensive understanding of computer hardware and software systems and general networking principles such as TCP/IP and routing
- Working knowledge of Windows 10/11, MSOffice, Windows Server 2016/2019, Unix environment, SQL required. Computer literacy necessary.
- Working knowledge of database programming in SQL, Oracle, or other database language required.
- Excellent organizational skills, problem recognition and problem-solving skills.
- Effective time-management skills; ability to multi-task and set priorities.
- Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate technical information with clarity and patience to non-technical staff.
- Must be comfortable working independently as well as possess the ability to work effectively as a team member.
- Ability to work accurately under stressful conditions.
- Excellent attendance record.
