About Statflo
Statflo is the business texting platform that helps front-line teams at telecom, financial services, and retail companies have personalized, compliant, one-to-one conversations with customers at scale. Our mission is simple:
Make every rep your best rep.
Today, Statflo powers more than 30 million conversations a year for enterprise clients, backed by built-in compliance safeguards (TCPA, CTIA, CASL, SOC 2) and deep integrations into our customers' existing systems. We're a remote-first company of 40+ people headquartered in downtown Toronto, and we operate by four principles: Be Accountable, Be Results-Driven, Be Curious, and Be Kaizen (continuous improvement, every day). We hire smart, capable people and trust them to do their best work.
What is the Opportunity?
Statflo is hiring its first Director of Finance - a senior, hands-on leader who will own finance for the company as we scale. You'll be the most senior (and, initially, only) member of the finance function, acting as a strategic partner to the CEO, board, lenders, and shareholders, while also supporting key operational functions including RevOps and Salesforce administration.
We plan to hire a Controller within the next twelve months to own day-to-day data entry and transactional accounting, but that hire hasn't happened yet - so this role requires a genuine willingness to roll up your sleeves and get into the details until that support is in place. This is a rare opportunity to build a finance and ops function largely from the ground up, shape it in your own image, and grow into a broader leadership role as the company scales.
You Will Be Able To
Strategic Finance
- Serve as Statflo's senior finance voice with the board, management team, lenders, and shareholders - preparing board materials, financial updates, and ad hoc analyses that inform key decisions
- Own the company's financial projection model and cash-runway model, keeping them current, accurate, and stress-tested against multiple scenarios
- Lead financial planning & analysis (FP&A): budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and monthly/quarterly reporting for the leadership team and board
- Manage relationships with lenders and support debt covenant compliance and reporting
- Support fundraising, financing, and other strategic transactions as needed, including data room management and due diligence
- Track and report on core SaaS metrics - ARR, CARR, MRR, gross revenue retention (GRR), and net revenue retention (NRR) - and translate them into insights that shape pricing, packaging, and go-to-market decisions
- Own cap table management and equity administration
Hands-On Finance
- Support the monthly close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing/collections
- Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial statements and tax filings (working with external accountants as needed)
Operations
- Support Revenue Operations (RevOps): sales forecasting (as part of the projection model), quote-to-cash processes, and commission/comp plan administration
- Administer and continuously improve Salesforce (or partner closely with an admin/consultant) to ensure the CRM supports accurate reporting and clean data across sales, marketing, and customer success
- Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and insurance, and support legal/compliance matters in coordination with outside counsel
- Identify and implement systems and process improvements across finance and ops as the company scales
Team Building
- Define the hiring plan for a Controller and other future finance hires; lead the search, hire, and onboard that person
- Build the processes, systems, and controls that will let the finance/ops function scale smoothly as the team grows
What you need to Succeed?
- 7–10+ years of progressive finance experience, including meaningful time as a Controller or in a similarly senior accounting/finance role, and you're ready to take the next step into a strategic, cross-functional leadership seat
- Strong SaaS industry background, with fluency in ARR, CARR, MRR, GRR, and NRR, and a solid understanding of how these metrics connect to unit economics and business strategy
- Direct experience building and owning financial projection and cash-runway models
- Experience preparing for and presenting to a board of directors, and ideally direct experience working with lenders and/or shareholders/investors
- A genuine willingness to be hands-on with day-to-day transactional work in the near term, balanced with the judgment to operate strategically
- Comfort operating with a high degree of autonomy and ambiguity in a startup/scale-up environment, with strong prioritization skills across a broad mandate
- CPA (or equivalent) designation preferred, not required
- Excellent communication skills - able to translate complex financial and operational information for a range of audiences, from the board to first-line managers
