About Steel
Steel is building open-source browser infrastructure for AI agents and apps. We make it easy for developers to ship AI products that interact with the web using our Sessions API.
With over 7,000 GitHub stars, dozens of paying customers, and millions of sessions served monthly, we grew our platform 50x in 2025 purely through word-of-mouth and our open-source community. Backed by world-class investors, we're building a small, highly motivated, and talent-dense team that's shaping the future of how humans interact with the internet.

The Role
We're looking for exceptional software engineering interns to help build the infrastructure and developer tools powering the next generation of AI agents. You'll work alongside our engineering team on real technical challenges, from scaling browser infrastructure to building developer tools and experimenting with AI agents. We're a small team that moves fast, and you'll have the opportunity to take ownership, ship production code, and see your work used by developers building some of the most exciting applications in AI.
Sample projects include...
Building and shipping features across Steel's APIs, SDKs, and developer tools
Improving the performance and reliability of our browser infrastructure
Building open-source demos that showcase what's possible with AI agents and browsers
Experimenting with AI models, prompts, and agent frameworks to improve browser automation
Working with containers, VMs, proxies, and distributed systems to scale browser sessions
Debugging tricky engineering problems and shipping fixes that make Steel faster and more reliable
