Role Description
The Equipment Manager (Hockey) is a contract, on-site role located in Stoney Creek, ON, responsible for the daily management and maintenance of all team equipment. This includes preparing and organizing gear for practices and games, maintaining inventory of equipment and supplies, and coordinating repairs, sharpening, and fitting of skates and protective gear. The role involves ensuring dressing rooms and equipment areas are clean, organized, and ready for use, and supporting coaches and players by responding quickly to equipment needs before, during, and after games. The Equipment Manager will also assist with loading and unloading equipment for road games, tracking equipment usage and replacements, and following team safety and hygiene standards.
Qualifications
- Experience managing hockey or sports equipment, including fitting, sharpening, and basic repairs.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle inventory, game-day preparation, and schedule demands.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and communicate effectively with players, coaches, and staff.
- Physical ability to lift, move, and transport equipment, and to work extended hours on game days and travel days.
- Knowledge of hockey gear, safety standards, and best practices for equipment hygiene and maintenance.
- Previous experience with a hockey team, sports club, or similar environment is an asset.
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the team schedule.
