Role Description
The Head Coach position is a contract, on-site role located in Stoney Creek, ON, responsible for leading the team’s overall athletic performance and culture. Day-to-day duties include planning and conducting practices, developing game strategies, managing lines and in-game adjustments, and overseeing player development programs. The Head Coach will evaluate player performance, provide constructive feedback, and coordinate closely with assistant coaches, trainers, and team staff to ensure effective communication and preparation. Additional responsibilities include video review, game and opponent analysis, roster and ice-time management, and maintaining high standards of discipline, safety, and sportsmanship. The Head Coach will also represent the team in league meetings as appropriate and contribute to community and fan engagement activities.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated coaching experience in competitive hockey, with strong skills in practice planning, game strategy, and player development.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate diverse teams, foster a positive locker room environment, and manage conflict constructively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including clear instruction, effective feedback delivery, and collaborative work with staff and players.
- Solid understanding of hockey systems, tactics, conditioning, and modern coaching methods, including use of video and performance analysis tools.
- Commitment to athlete safety and well-being, including knowledge of injury prevention, recovery principles, and respect for league rules and policies.
- Ability to manage time and schedules effectively, balancing practices, games, travel, and administrative tasks.
- Relevant coaching certifications or licenses and a record of ongoing professional development; experience at junior, semi-professional, or similar levels is an asset.
- Clear background check and adherence to organizational codes of conduct and ethical standards
- Proven experience at the AAA or Jr level.
