Role Description The Youth Worker is a full-time, on-site role located in tje GTA and Hamilton areas. This role involves providing direct support and guidance to children and youth in a residential setting, helping them build practical life skills, develop healthy routines, and engage in positive social and recreational activities. The Youth Worker will assist with daily living tasks, implement individual care plans, and maintain a structured, supportive environment that promotes safety and emotional well-being. Responsibilities include documenting observations, participating in team meetings, collaborating with Care Providers and other professionals, and responding appropriately to crises and behavioral challenges. The Youth Worker will also model positive behavior, encourage education and skill development, and contribute to a respectful, inclusive atmosphere.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in youth support, including relationship-building, mentoring, and behavior management.
- Experience in residential care, social services, or community-based youth programs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage children and youth in a respectful, trauma-informed manner.
- Ability to plan and facilitate structured activities that promote life skills, healthy living, and social development.
- Competence in documentation, record-keeping, and following care plans and program guidelines.
- Capacity to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and respond effectively to crises.
- Relevant education such as a diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Knowledge of child and youth development, mental health, and risk factors impacting vulnerable young people.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
- CPR/First Aid certification and a clear vulnerable sector check (or eligibility to obtain) are assets.
