The Site Supervisor plays a critical role in turning project plans into safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible execution on site.
The Role (What You’ll Do & Why It Matters)
As a Site Supervisor, you are responsible for overseeing day-to-day field operations, ensuring work is executed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with environmental, regulatory, and quality standards. You lead crews, coordinate equipment and subcontractors, and act as the on-site link between field teams, Project Managers, and Operations leadership.
Your leadership directly influences safety performance, productivity, environmental compliance, client satisfaction, and team development.

Responsibilities
Site Leadership & Field Execution
- Supervise daily site activities across remediation, reclamation, demolition, and environmental construction projects.
- Plan and coordinate labour, equipment, and materials to meet production targets.
- Assign tasks, monitor work quality, and ensure crews follow approved procedures.
- Motivate and develop crews through coaching, feedback, and on-the-job training.
- Promote teamwork, cross-training, and professional conduct on site.
Safety, Hazard Identification & Compliance
- Lead and enforce site-specific and corporate Health & Safety Plans.
- Conduct pre-task planning, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and daily toolbox discussions.
- Identify, control, and document hazards in dynamic field environments.
- Participate in incident investigations, corrective actions, and reporting.
- Ensure housekeeping standards and safe work practices are consistently maintained.
Environmental Compliance & Documentation
- Lead environmental compliance through review, maintenance, and completion of all required project documents and logs.
- Prepare and manage environmental applications and compliance documentation during active projects.
- Track deficiencies identified through inspections and ensure timely resolution.
- Issue site directives to address and mitigate non-compliance in coordination with management.
- Provide environmental guidance to field staff and subcontractors as required.
Coordination, Reporting & Systems
- Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Operations Managers to align field execution with project plans.
- Track and enter labour and equipment hours accurately into company systems.
- Communicate progress, issues, and risks clearly to leadership.
- Support site training initiatives and competency development.
Equipment Awareness & Field Knowledge
- Maintain working knowledge of excavators, loaders, graders, and related equipment.
- Ensure equipment is operated safely, maintained properly, and used efficiently.
- Identify equipment-related risks and coordinate corrective actions when required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience supervising field crews on environmental or civil construction projects.
- Strong understanding of safety systems, hazard controls, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with remediation, reclamation, demolition, or similar heavy civil work.
- Ability to lead through clear direction, professionalism, and accountability.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.

Pre-Employment Requirements
Due to the safety-sensitive nature of Sublatus projects, all Site Supervisors must maintain the following:
- Clean criminal record check.
- Negative alcohol and drug test.
- Fitness-for-duty testing (50 lb capability).
- Clean driver’s abstract.
- Consent to participate in all required testing and monitoring programs.
Working Conditions
- Full-time, hourly position.
- Travel required across Western Canada.
- Extended hours and weekend work based on project demands.
- Safety-sensitive role with ongoing compliance requirements.
