Role Description
The Senior Financial Controller is a full-time, on-site role based in Toronto, ON, responsible for overseeing all financial operations and ensuring accurate, timely reporting across multiple locations. Day-to-day tasks include managing the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; overseeing general ledger activities; and leading the budgeting and forecasting processes. The role involves monitoring cash flow, analyzing variances, and providing strategic financial insights to support business decisions and operational efficiency. The Senior Financial Controller will supervise the accounting team, ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and tax regulations, and optimize internal controls and financial systems. This position collaborates closely with senior leadership, store management, and external partners to maintain financial integrity and support growth.
Qualifications
- Strong accounting foundations with proven experience in Accounting and the preparation and review of Financial Statements.
- Advanced Finance and Financial Reporting skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and multi-location retail or CPG experience.
- Excellent Analytical Skills to interpret financial data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations.
- Professional designation such as CPA (or equivalent), or progress toward one, and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience leading and mentoring finance or accounting teams in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
- Proficiency with ERP/accounting software and advanced Excel skills; familiarity with inventory and POS systems is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Clear, respectful communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
