Job description:
Summit Geo Inc. is seeking two GIS Mappers / Geomatics Technicians to prepare, maintain and quality-check geospatial information for 2D and 3D seismic projects and site surveillance.
We are looking for detail-oriented professionals who can investigate data inconsistencies and produce reliable maps for project and field teams.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and update maps for 2D and 3D seismic programs, planning, field operations, surveillance and reporting.
- Manage seismic, survey, GPS, imagery and other spatial data. Map seismic lines, program boundaries, access routes and infrastructure.
- Review field information, imagery and GIS records for site surveillance. Identify changes, discrepancies and data-quality issues.
- Perform GIS quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC), georeference source material, and work with coordinate systems, projections and datum transformations.
- Maintain organized project files, geodatabases, templates and documentation.
- Coordinate with project managers, field personnel and geomatics teams.
Required qualifications
- Education or technical training in GIS, geomatics, geography, surveying or a related discipline.
- Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro or comparable GIS software.
- Strong knowledge of coordinate systems, projections, datums and spatial transformations.
- Experience editing and quality-checking vector and raster data.
- Ability to use aerial or satellite imagery and GPS or survey data.
- Strong cartographic skills and attention to accuracy.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple mapping requests and meet project deadlines.
Preferred experience
Experience in one or more of the following:
- 2D/3D seismic or geophysical operations.
- Source and receiver data.
- Surveying, field mapping or site surveillance.
- Access and infrastructure mapping.
Working Conditions
Outdoor work in varying weather and terrain, with potential for extended shifts, remote assignments, and overnight travel.
Compensation: Day rate based on experience
