Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and details oriented Senior Accountant to join our growing Finance team. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys owning key accounting processes, supporting financial reporting, and partnering across the business to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting knowledge, hands-on experience in a multi-entity environment, and a proven ability to manage complex accounting matters including intercompany accounting, fixed assets, reconciliations, consolidations, and audit support. This individual must be comfortable working independently, driving process improvements, and partnering with stakeholders across the organization.
This is a fully onsite role in Mississauga.
Compensation Range - $100,000 range
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and execute key activities related to monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and adherence to reporting deadlines.
- Prepare, review and post recurring and non-recurring journal entries, including accruals, account reconciliations, prepaids, allocations, reclassifications, payroll entries, intercompany transactions, and other adjusting entries
- Own & maintain the integrity of the general ledger and investigate discrepancies, unusual transactions, and accounting issues, escalating matters to the management
- Perform intercompany reconciliation, maintain accounting records across multiple corporate entities, including intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
- Prepare financial schedules, reconciliations, and supporting information required for monthly management reporting and quarterly and annual financial reporting.
- Prepare and maintain audit working papers and supporting documentation and assist the Accounting Manager and Director of Accounting in responding to information requests from the company’s external auditors.
- Prepare and maintain documentation, SOP related to accounting processes and prepare policies for technical accounting matters.
- Support and maintain core accounting processes including accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense reporting, taxation, payroll accounting, bank reconciliations.
- Participate in the implementation and ongoing development of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central from an accounting and financial reporting perspective.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, internal controls, documentation, and financial processes and bring recommendations to the management.
- Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
- Participate in consolidation processes across multiple entities
- Maintain accounting records in accordance with IFRS and company policies
- Support fixed asset accounting, capitalization, depreciation, and related reconciliations
- Support tax compliance activities, including sales tax filings and year-end tax information requests
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiency
- Prepare ad hoc analyses and reporting for senior management
Education- CPA designation, ACCA or actively pursuing CPA
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: - 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong understanding of financial accounting and reporting processes
- Strong accounting fundamentals and experienced in full accounting cycle
- Hands-on experience with month-end close and account reconciliations
- Experience with consolidations and intercompany accounting
- Audit support experience (internal and/or external audits)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, LOOKUPs, data analysis and reporting tools. Power BI and other reporting tool skills are an asset
- Experience with ERP systems (Dynamics 365 Business Central, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to identify process improvement opportunities and strengthen internal controls.
