Responsibilities
Perform venipuncture and ECGs for inpatients and outpatients, review patient documentation, collect and arrange transport of specimens, and maintain supplies and work areas. Provide patient-centred support, document workload and safety information, use hospital information systems, and contribute to quality improvement and staff training.
Requirements
Completion of a community college Medical Laboratory Assistant program that includes phlebotomy and ECG, along with MLPAO certification, is required; CSMLS MLA certification is an asset. At least one year of recent venipuncture experience is required, with strong attention to detail, computer skills, safe and accurate work practices, and effective communication; hospital experience and familiarity with Sunquest systems are assets.
