Role Description The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) role is a full-time, on-site position located in Sault Ste. Marie, ON. The RPN will provide direct patient care, including administering medications, performing assessments, monitoring vital signs, and documenting clinical observations in accordance with applicable standards and policies. The role includes collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, supporting care plans, and communicating effectively with patients, families, and caregivers. The RPN will assist with treatments and procedures, promote infection prevention and safety practices, and ensure accurate charting and reporting. The position also involves responding to changing patient needs, prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment, and contributing to a respectful, inclusive, and patient-centered care setting.
Qualifications
- Valid RPN license in good standing with the applicable provincial regulatory body (e.g., CNO) and eligibility to practice in Ontario.
- Demonstrated clinical skills in medication administration, patient assessment, wound care, and infection control.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Ability to prioritize workload, manage multiple patients, and adapt to changing clinical situations.
- Proficiency in electronic health records and basic computer skills for documentation and communication.
- Experience in acute care, long-term care, community health, or similar healthcare settings is an asset.
- Commitment to ethical practice, patient safety, confidentiality, and inclusive, culturally sensitive care.
- Diploma in Practical Nursing or equivalent, with current CPR/BLS certification; additional relevant certifications are considered an advantage.
