Role Description The Quality Control – Fabrication Yard role is a full-time, on-site position based in Fort St John, BC. This role is responsible for inspecting fabricated components, materials, and welds to ensure they meet established specifications, standards, and client requirements. Day-to-day tasks include performing visual and dimensional inspections, documenting findings, maintaining quality records, and supporting the resolution of non-conformances with yard supervisors and fabrication crews. The individual will help implement and monitor quality procedures, verify adherence to fabrication drawings and codes, and participate in internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives. Collaboration with project management, engineering, and HSE teams is essential to support safe, efficient, and compliant yard operations.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in Quality Control and Quality Assurance within fabrication, construction, or industrial environments.
- Knowledge of Quality Management principles and systems, including development and implementation of quality procedures and standards.
- Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) or equivalent industrial quality practices, with the ability to apply them in a fabrication yard setting.
- Experience in Quality Auditing, including conducting inspections, internal audits, and reporting on compliance and non-conformances.
- Strong attention to detail, technical reading skills, and ability to interpret drawings, codes, and specifications.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with supervisors, tradespeople, and project teams.
- Relevant certifications in welding inspection, NDT, or quality-related disciplines are an asset.
- Previous experience in pipeline or facility construction is preferred, along with familiarity with Canadian regulatory and industry standards.
- Ability to work on-site in Fort St John, BC, and adapt to yard conditions while maintaining a strong focus on safety.
