TalentCompass has recently partnered with a leading property management company based in Southwest Edmonton. This is a full-time permanent hybrid role.
The role reports to the owner and will lead the accounting functions of the organization. You will manage a team of 4 and will oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.
Responsibilities:
- Financial planning, budgeting, & expense control
- Meet monthly/quarterly/annual deadlines as required such as reconciliations, reporting, covenant calculations, GST, financial statements, financial analysis, and year-end reporting
- Responsible for preparing annual statements and notes
- Supports quarterly-end and year-end close process and the preparation of reports to Government partners
- Ensures quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
- Attend senior management meetings related to forecasting/budgeting
- Oversee or perform tasks to ensure financial functions are reconciled monthly such as cash, accounts receivables, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accounts payable, manufacturer statements, payroll administration, vehicle deal commissioning, and intercompany accounts
Qualifications:
- CPA designation
- Must have 3 years of Assistant Controller/Controller experience
- Experience working in property management or real estate accounting is highly desired
- Supervisory experience is an asset
- Comprehensive knowledge of accounting theories, concepts, & practices as well as the ability to navigate complex, difficult, and/or unprecedented situations
- In-depth understanding of accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP) & operational accounting
- Must possess expert knowledge required to make a decision related to implications of risk, cash flow management, financial agreements/covenants, & tax
- Must have expert Excel skills and be highly skilled in other standard Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
