- 3–8 years of relevant technical experience, preferably in an industry such as aerospace, transportation, construction, or a related field.
- General knowledge of acoustics and vibrations, including modeling, measurement techniques, and signal processing.
- Advanced expertise in at least one of the following areas:
- Finite Element Methods (FEM) applied to structural dynamics and acoustics; or
- Architectural acoustics / sound design, particularly for buildings or performance halls.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to plan work against long-term objectives while managing short-term priorities and multiple activities simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication to different audiences and present technical conclusions with confidence.
- A curious, critical, and innovative mindset, with a strong interest in developing technical knowledge and generating new ideas.
- A demonstrated commitment to fostering a healthy, ethical, respectful, diverse, and inclusive work environment.
- Fluency in English; French is considered an asset.
Technical Responsibilities
To achieve these objectives, you will be expected to:
- Create simulation models using Finite Element (FE), Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA), and ray-tracing methods to assess and optimize design choices that preserve or enhance cabin acoustic comfort.
- Develop simulation methods and tools that extend the capabilities of existing models to address evolving aircraft cabin acoustics development needs.
- Set up and participate in laboratory test campaigns at the Bombardier Aerospace (BA) Lab to validate design concepts and technologies.
- Plan and participate in flight and ground testing to quantify cabin acoustic comfort and characterize vibratory environments in specific aircraft areas.
- Analyze test data, prepare technical reports, and clearly communicate conclusions and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
About the Role
In this role, you will contribute to the development, validation, and continuous improvement of aircraft cabin acoustics and vibration performance. You will work closely with engineering experts, laboratory teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to support advanced simulation, testing, and the resolution of acoustic and vibration-related issues across Bombardier’s Challenger and Global aircraft programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering experts responsible for numerical simulations and laboratory measurements to support programs requiring advanced simulation models and laboratory validation.
- Support colleagues responsible for cabin acoustics on the Challenger and Global programs in resolving engineering-related cabin acoustics and vibration issues during production, delivery, and in-service operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering and production to integrate new developments - including connectivity, interiors, features, and comfort systems - while ensuring cabin acoustic performance meets Bombardier’s high standards.
- Work with colleagues to propose, evaluate, and develop tools and technologies for integration into future aircraft programs.
