Superintendent (Heavy Civil Construction)

Compensation: $130,000-$150,000 (based on experience)

The Opportunity
We have partnered with one of the GTA's premier general contractors to add a Site Superintendent to their growing team.
You will take ownership of day-to-day field operations, lead field teams, and work with Project Managers on a diverse range of complex civil infrastructure projects while also building your leadership and project delivery experience.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Take ownership of daily site operations from mobilization through project completion.
- Lead and coordinate crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, inspections and site activities.
- Work closely with Project Managers, consultants, inspectors, contract administrators and other stakeholders to keep projects on track.
- Review drawings, specifications and schedules and translate project requirements into clear direction for Foremen and field crews.
- Monitor production, progress, quality and schedule performance.
- Identify potential issues early and take action to keep work progressing.
- Coordinate inspections and ensure deficiencies are addressed quickly and properly.
- Track labour, equipment rentals, materials and production.
- Identify and document additional or out-of-scope work and communicate changes to the Project Manager.
- Maintain accurate daily records and project documentation.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure employees and subcontractors are working in accordance with project and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in pre-construction, progress and coordination meetings.
- Maintain productive relationships with owners, subcontractors, consultants, inspectors and other project stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and help improve how projects are delivered.
What You Bring
- 7–10+ years of experience as a Civil Construction Superintendent or in a comparable field leadership role.
- Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline is an asset. P.ENG certification is preferred.
- Strong background in heavy civil construction and field operations.
- Direct experience withearthworks and roadworks; bridge experience is an asset.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, equipment, scheduling, cost control, safety, and quality requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Demonstrated ability to lead crews, subcontractors, and multiple site activities simultaneously.
- Strong communication, organization, and critical thinking skills.
- Comfortable working with Microsoft Office and project scheduling software.
- Ability to travel between project sites throughout the GTA.
