About The Opportunity
We are currently working with an established consulting engineering firm in Winnipeg that is looking to add a
Senior Mechanical Engineer to their growing building engineering team.
This is an opportunity to work on a diverse range of building projects across commercial, institutional, healthcare, residential, and other sectors. The successful candidate will be involved in projects from the early design stages through to construction, while working alongside a collaborative team of engineers, technologists, and other building professionals.
The role would be well suited to a Mechanical Engineer who enjoys a combination of technical design, project involvement, client interaction, and collaboration and is looking for an opportunity to continue developing their career within consulting engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical building systems for a variety of new construction and renovation projects
- Complete HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and other mechanical system designs
- Prepare mechanical drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, and technical documentation
- Perform load calculations and equipment selections
- Develop designs in accordance with applicable building codes, standards, and industry practices
- Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, electrical, and other disciplines
- Review drawings and specifications and provide technical recommendations
- Participate in site visits, field reviews, inspections, and construction administration as required
- Work directly with clients, contractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, budgets, and deliverables
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff where appropriate
- Contribute to proposals, scopes of work, and other business development activities as opportunities arise
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Manitoba, or eligibility to obtain
- Approximately 5-8+ years of experience in mechanical building consulting/design
- Experience with HVAC and mechanical building systems
- Strong understanding of applicable building codes and engineering standards
- Experience with Revit and/or AutoCAD
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
