The Opportunity
Our client, an established General Contractor operating throughout the Greater Toronto Area, is seeking an experienced
Site Superintendent to join their team.
This position is focused specifically on
commercial interior construction and renovation projects, with a considerable portion of the company’s work located in downtown Toronto.
The successful candidate will bring a minimum of five years of hands-on commercial interiors experience and be comfortable taking responsibility for the day-to-day management of active construction sites, coordinating trades, maintaining schedules and ensuring projects are completed safely and to a high standard.
Please note: this is an interiors-focused position. Candidates whose experience is primarily ground-up construction without significant commercial interiors experience will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day site operations on commercial interior construction and renovation projects
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors and trades throughout all stages of construction
- Maintain project schedules and ensure work progresses according to established timelines
- Coordinate site logistics, deliveries, access and sequencing of trades
- Review drawings and specifications and ensure construction is completed in accordance with project requirements
- Identify and resolve site issues in coordination with the Project Manager, consultants and trades
- Monitor workmanship and maintain project quality standards
- Conduct regular site inspections and ensure deficiencies are addressed promptly
- Maintain a safe, organized and professional job site
- Ensure compliance with applicable health and safety requirements
- Participate in site meetings and provide regular updates on project progress
- Coordinate inspections, deficiencies, turnover and project closeout
- Maintain positive working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and project stakeholders
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of commercial interiors construction experience
- Previous experience working as a Site Superintendent or in a comparable site leadership position
- Strong experience coordinating multiple trades on active interior construction projects
- Solid understanding of construction drawings, specifications and project schedules
- Strong knowledge of commercial renovation and interior construction methods
- Ability to manage projects in occupied or logistically challenging environments is an asset
- Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities on site
- Strong commitment to site safety and quality
- Ability to work on projects throughout the GTA, including downtown Toronto
Compensation
Up to $100,000 annually, depending on experience.
