Position: Health and Safety Advisor
Reports To: HR Manager
Tap Roots Group is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Health & Safety Advisor to support and promote a strong safety culture across our organization. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations, COR standards, and occupational health and safety legislation while supporting employees, supervisors, and management in maintaining safe and healthy workplaces. This is an in office position with travel to our job sites in the lower mainland. All travel will be compensated.

Position Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of construction or high-rise occupational health and safety experience.
- Post-secondary education or certification in Occupational Health & Safety, CSO designation, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Intermediate First Aid certification required.
- Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations, COR requirements, and OHS legislation.
- Valid BC Driver's License and reliable vehicle for travel between sites.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365; Procore experience is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multiple departments.
Description of Duties:
- Lead and continuously improve the company's Health & Safety Program, policies, procedures, and COR compliance initiatives.
- Conduct site inspections, safety audits, hazard assessments, and investigations of incidents, near misses, and safety concerns, ensuring corrective actions are completed.
- Provide safety guidance, training, orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing support to employees and management.
- Partner with Human Resources and third-party providers to manage WorkSafeBC claims, modified duties, return-to-work programs, and injury investigations.
- Coordinate and maintain safety documentation, training records, certifications, inspection reports, and compliance records.
- Lead the Joint Occupational Health & Safety (JOHS) Program, including meetings, inspections, action tracking, and reporting.
- Manage PPE and Respiratory Protection Programs, including fit testing, training, compliance monitoring, and inventory support.
- Monitor safety performance, prepare reports, track KPIs and trends, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Support emergency preparedness planning, drills, and response activities, including providing first aid assistance when required.
- Collaborate with operational leaders, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure consistent adherence to company safety standards and legislative requirements.
- Support the development and implementation of safety initiatives, safe work practices, and ongoing organizational improvement projects.
