Metropolitan Academy of English (MAE) offers English learners of all levels IELTS/TOEFL/TOEIC/EIKEN exam preparation and personalized ESL courses. Our mission is to help students achieve their personal and professional goals faster and more efficiently with lessons that cater to a students’ individual needs in private and semi-private environments. Our students include both children and adults, and demand a high level of skill, professionalism, and maturity from our instructors.
We are currently looking for qualified and enthusiastic IELTS/TOEFL/TOEIC/EIKEN teachers to provide online tutoring for our students in Japan and China. Teachers will be required to work from our offices in Toronto.
Because of time zone differences, teachers will be required to work on: Holidays, Night and Early morning shifts, Weekends as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities
Creation and execution of individualized, tutoring, and lesson plans for our students

Qualifications
Experience : 3 years in English teaching/tutoring
Education: Minimum high school; teaching certificate or high achievement exams being taught is a definite asset
Demonstrated experience working with Chinese or Japanese speaking students. Knowledge of these languages is not a requirement, but it is a definite asset.

Responsibilities
Create and deliver individualized tutoring and lesson plans for students preparing for IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, and EIKEN exams, as well as students taking personalized ESL courses. Provide online lessons to students in Japan and China while working from the Toronto office, including holidays, nights, early mornings, and weekends as needed.
Requirements
Applicants need at least three years of English teaching or tutoring experience and a minimum of a high school education. A teaching certificate, strong achievement in the exams taught, and experience with Chinese- or Japanese-speaking students are definite assets; knowledge of those languages is not required.
