Company Description
The Bench is a Canadian university sports platform built around the players, not just the teams. We’re creating a more engaging way for students and fans to follow U SPORTS through player-based pick’em, live stats, fantasy-style experiences, and original campus content.
Our goal is simple: make Canadian university sports more fun to follow and give students more reasons to care about the players and games happening on their campuses.
No one rides the bench here. Get in the game.
Role Description
The Bench is looking for an outgoing and confident Campus Content Interviewer to help us create short-form content across Montreal university campuses.
This is a part-time, on-site role for someone who is comfortable approaching students, starting conversations, asking engaging sports-related questions, and filming authentic reactions and opinions for social media.
You’ll visit campuses such as McGill and Concordia, as well as selected university sporting events, and conduct quick street-style interviews with students and fans.
You will typically be responsible for the full interview process: approaching participants, briefly explaining the concept, filming the interaction, asking questions from behind the camera, and capturing clean, engaging footage. The Bench team will handle editing and publishing.
Interview formats may include sports debates, predictions, trivia, player comparisons, pick’em-style questions, challenges, and other campus-focused concepts.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct short-form interviews with students and sports fans on Montreal university campuses
- Approach students confidently and make participants feel comfortable on camera
- Film vertical video content using a phone or provided equipment
- Ask questions and natural follow-ups from behind the camera
- Attend selected university games, campus events, and other high-traffic opportunities
- Capture additional footage of campus environments, crowds, and events when needed
- Follow content briefs and interview concepts provided by The Bench
- Upload organized raw footage after each filming session
- Share feedback on which questions, locations, and formats generate the strongest reactions
- Represent The Bench professionally and respectfully while on campus
Who We’re Looking For
- Comfortable approaching and speaking with people you don’t know
- Confident, outgoing, and able to keep conversations natural and energetic
- Comfortable filming vertical social content with a smartphone
- Reliable and able to work independently without constant supervision
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Interested in sports, university culture, social media, or content creation
- Available for flexible filming sessions around campus activity and selected sporting events
Experience in journalism, broadcasting, podcasting, social media, sports media, interviewing, or content creation is an asset, but not required.
We care much more about your personality, confidence, reliability, and ability to connect with people than having a traditional media résumé.
Time Commitment
Approximately 4–6 hours per week to start, typically organized into 2–3 hour filming sessions. Hours may increase around major games, events, or special content activations.
Application
Please apply with your résumé or LinkedIn profile.
We’d also like applicants to include a short 30–60 second video introducing themselves and telling us why they would be a good fit for this role.
If you have previous examples of interviews, broadcasts, podcasts, TikToks, Reels, sports content, or other on-camera work, feel free to include them.
