The 52-acre site is an all-season gathering space in downtown Winnipeg featuring local retail shops, a wide variety of food vendors, as well as must-see historical and cultural places and programming. We are looking for individuals who share a love for building community-focused shared spaces that offer a positive visitor experience for everyone.
Reporting to the Site Supervisor, the Outdoor Site Maintenance will work on The Forks 52-acre site, to ensure the outdoor public spaces are clean, beautiful, safe, and welcoming for all visitors. This includes maintaining outdoor spaces, supporting the setup and takedown of events, reporting potential safety issues, and assisting visitors as needed.
The Outdoor Site Maintenance team member is someone who will:
- Provide consistent ongoing support to all departments in a timely manner.
- Interact daily with visitors, providing excellent customer service and memorable interactions.
- Build relationships and collaborate with external contacts, including contractors and side crews, to ensure site and equipment is well maintained.
- Assist with year-round grounds maintenance, including lawn care, landscaping, irrigation, patio setup, pressure washing, pest control, trail grooming, snow clearing, and maintaining safe, slip-free walkways to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming outdoor environment.
- Report safety hazards and maintenance issues promptly to ensure a safe and welcoming space for the community.
- Monitor site supplies inventory and communicate needs to Site
- Perform additional duties that include encampment cleanup, waste collection, and setup and takedown of
The Outdoor Site Maintenance team member is someone who:
- Is friendly and can assist visitors in a welcoming
- Must be available to work a variety of shifts that will include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Is a clear communicator and supportive team member.
- Is highly organized with strong attention to detail and able to prioritize tasks.
- Is able to resolve issues quickly and independently.
- Is able to lift, push, and pull up to 50+
- Is capable of working outdoors, in a variety of extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold temperatures, snow, and rain.
- Is comfortable learning how to use new tools and equipment such as skid steers, tractors, utility vehicles, trailers and Experience using this equipment would be considered an asset.
- Has a valid Class 5 Driver’s License. This would be considered an asset.
