We’re looking for an experienced payroll professional to join our team as a Senior Payroll Administrator. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Payroll, this role is a key member of the payroll team and serves as the primary backup for payroll leadership.
The successful candidate will bring advanced payroll expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and a passion for solving complex payroll challenges. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring accurate and compliant payroll processing, leading year-end activities, supporting payroll system administration, and driving continuous improvement across payroll operations.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Operations
- Support end-to-end payroll processing for multi-province payrolls
- Review payroll calculations, earnings, deductions, taxes, garnishments, and benefit adjustments for accuracy
- Analyze and resolve complex payroll discrepancies and escalated employee issues
- Ensure payroll processing complies with federal and provincial regulations
- Perform payroll balancing and reconciliation activities prior to each payroll transmission
- Support special payroll runs, bonus payments, retroactive adjustments, and off-cycle payrolls
Year-End Processing & Reconciliations
- Lead payroll year-end balancing activities, including quarter-end and annual reconciliations
- Reconcile payroll tax filings, wage records, benefit deductions, and general ledger accounts
- Support the preparation, validation, and distribution of year-end forms
- Research and resolve payroll tax variances and year-end discrepancies
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing payroll documentation
Dayforce Administration & Configuration
- Serve as an internal Dayforce subject matter expert
- Investigate and resolve Dayforce payroll, tax, timekeeping, and system-related issues
- Troubleshoot data integration, workflow, configuration, and processing errors
- Maintain payroll configuration tables, earnings codes, deduction setups, tax configurations, and system controls
- Validate system changes and ensure payroll calculations function as intended
- Document system configurations, procedures, and testing results
What you Bring
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including senior-level payroll administration responsibilities
- Advanced experience with Ceridian Dayforce
- Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, payroll tax regulations, and year-end processing requirements
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP, and VLOOKUP
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve complex payroll issues
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to confidentiality
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation
- Experience of payroll accounting and general ledger reconciliations
- Experience with payroll audits and compliance reviews
- Experience leading payroll projects, implementations, or system enhancements
Additional Information
- Full-time position based in Richmond, BC
- Regular business hours, Monday to Friday
- Occasional overtime required during payroll processing cycles, year-end activities, and other peak periods
- Standard office work environment with typical physical requirements, including extended computer use and light lifting (up to 30 lbs.)
