You’ll work in person on the shop floor, taking parts from 3D models and 2D drawings through CNC milling to finished metal. The primary spike is to independently produce quality parts while helping maintain Forge’s four-day turnaround, set the standard for incoming junior machinists, and provide direct feedback to the engineers building Forge’s shop-floor software.
What You'll Own
- Take parts from a 3D model and 2D drawing to finished metal independently.
- Run CNC mills and help maintain Forge’s four-day turnaround.
- Anchor the machining floor as junior machinists join and ramp.
- Own part quality and execute production work with minimal hand-holding.
- Give direct feedback to software engineers building tools for the manufacturing floor.
Technical Requirements
- Hands-on CNC milling experience.
- Fluent ability to read 3D models and 2D drawings.
- Ability to produce parts independently when provided with the appropriate tools.
- Production machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
Background
- Good relevant experience as a production machinist.
- Trade-school training, such as from Seneca Polytechnic, is helpful but not required.
- Experience working in a Toronto-area machine shop is relevant.
Who Will Thrive Here This role suits an independent craftsperson who enjoys making parts, takes pride in production quality, and wants to help set the standard on a growing manufacturing floor. You’ll work alongside software engineers building tools for the shop, so curiosity about improving how manufacturing gets done is valuable.
