Senior Architectural Millwork Detailer – AutoCAD
Mississauga, ON | Full-time, On-site | $70,000–$85,000
A custom architectural millwork company is seeking a Senior Detailer with strong AutoCAD experience to produce complete, accurate shop drawings for commercial interior projects.
This role is focused on architectural millwork - not general architectural or mechanical drafting. You must understand how millwork is built, detailed, manufactured, and installed.
Responsibilities
- Create detailed AutoCAD shop drawings for custom architectural millwork
- Prepare plans, elevations, sections, construction details, and assembly drawings
- Detail reception desks, retail fixtures, cabinetry, wall panels, display units, counters, feature millwork, and other custom assemblies
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, field dimensions, finishes, hardware, and material requirements
- Coordinate drawing revisions with project managers, designers, production teams, and installers
- Identify constructability issues before drawings are released to production
- Produce clear fabrication documentation, material takeoffs, cut lists, and BOMs where required
- Support design-assist work and develop 3D or isometric details when needed
- Maintain drawing accuracy, revision control, and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle
Requirements
- 5+ years of direct architectural millwork, custom cabinetry, store-fixture, or commercial interior detailing experience
- Advanced AutoCAD 2D skills; ability to produce complete, fabrication-ready shop drawing packages
- Strong understanding of millwork construction, joinery, materials, hardware, veneers, laminates, wood, metal, glass, and finishing
- Experience reading architectural drawings, interior specifications, and site dimensions
- Practical understanding of fabrication and installation processes
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple drawing packages and revisions
- Clear communication with production, project management, and installation teams
Preferred
- Microvellum, Cabinet Vision, Mozaik, SolidWorks, or similar millwork software
- CNC, cut-list, BOM, and production-planning experience
- Commercial retail, corporate, hospitality, institutional, or banking millwork experience
- Knowledge of AWMAC or AWI standards
