Role Description The Shipping Clerk is a part-time, on-site role based at The UPS Store in Montreal, QC. This role is responsible for assisting customers with packing and shipping needs, including preparing parcels, selecting appropriate packaging materials, and processing shipments using store systems. Day-to-day tasks include receiving incoming items, verifying shipping information, printing labels, tracking packages, and coordinating shipments through UPS and other carriers. The Shipping Clerk also helps maintain inventory of packing and office supplies, keeps work areas organized and safe, and supports general store operations such as customer service at the front counter. This position involves frequent interaction with customers, requiring clear communication, attention to detail, and a commitment to accurate, timely service.
Qualifications
- Strong shipping-related skills, including Shipping & Receiving and Shipping processes.
- Proficiency in Packing, with the ability to select appropriate materials and ensure safe, secure packaging.
- Experience or training in Forklift Operation and safe handling of heavier items (if applicable to store operations).
- Effective Communication skills for interacting with customers, carriers, and team members.
- Customer service orientation and the ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Basic computer skills and comfort using point-of-sale and shipping software.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift packages within reasonable weight limits, and follow safety procedures.
- Previous experience in shipping, warehousing, retail, or logistics is an asset.
- High school diploma or equivalent education preferred.
- Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends as needed.
