Job Description:
The ideal candidate will possess deep architecture and design expertise in application delivery controllers (ADCs), with a proven track record of mapping complex legacy setups to cloud topologies. Strong familiarity with Azure network integrations is highly preferred.
Core Responsibilities
- Architectural Assessment: Evaluate the current on-premises F5 BIG-IP infrastructure (LTM, GTM/BIG-IP DNS, APM, ASM/WAF) to map out dependencies and traffic patterns.
- Migration Strategy & Design: Author a comprehensive architecture design document outlining the workflow to transition traffic and load balancing capabilities from on-premises hardware to the cloud.
- Azure Integration Planning: Collaborate with cloud infrastructure teams to design the landing zones, virtual appliances (e.g., F5 BIG-IP Virtual Edition in Azure), Azure Load Balancers, Application Gateways, and UDRs (User Defined Routes).
- Risk Mitigation: Identify potential roadblocks in traffic routing, SSL/TLS offloading, and security policies, providing mitigation strategies to ensure zero-downtime during the migration cutover.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Present architectural designs and migration phases clearly to senior IT leadership and engineering teams.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Expertise in F5 Technology: Deep, specialized experience architecting, designing, and deploying F5 BIG-IP solutions (LTM, GTM/DNS, iRules).
- Infrastructure Migration: Proven track record of leading network infrastructure migrations from legacy on-premises datacenters to cloud environments.
- Enterprise Architecture: Strong background in high-availability network design, disaster recovery planning, data center routing, and security protocols.
- Communication: Exceptional documentation skills for writing technical architecture frameworks, runbooks, and implementation designs.
- Availability: Must be able to work 100% onsite in Vancouver, B.C. for the full duration of the 1-month contract.
Preferred Qualifications
- Azure Exposure: Direct experience working with Microsoft Azure networking components (Azure Virtual Networks, ExpressRoute, Azure Load Balancer, F5 VE in Azure marketplace) is highly preferred and will be considered a significant advantage.
- Certifications: F5 Certified Technology Specialist (F5-CTS) or F5 Certified Solution Expert (F5-CSE), and/or Azure Solutions Architect Expert certifications.
