Position Overview
Our client is an established, independent Canadian wealth manager with a substantive national footprint. Currently experiencing sustained growth, the organization is seeking a Chief Growth Officer to accelerate the firm’s growth strategy and enhance enterprise value.
Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Growth Officer is a senior executive responsible for growing Assets Under Administration (AUA) through advisor recruiting and retention, organic growth initiatives, strategic partnerships, and execution of the firm’s advisor value proposition. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Chief Growth Officer serves as a growth strategist, industry ambassador, and organizational leader, partnering closely with Recruiting, Marketing, Corporate Development, and Operations teams to drive sustained growth across the platform.
The ideal candidate will bring significant experience in wealth management, a strong understanding of the advisor landscape, and a demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with high-performing financial advisors and practice leaders. They will have a track record of driving commercial growth, attracting and retaining advisors and leading successfully in a decentralized, relationship-driven environment.
This is an attractive opportunity to join a growing, entrepreneurial wealth management organization and take on a broad strategic mandate and significantly influence the business's continued development. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape their mandate, deepen relationships within the advisor network, and directly impact advisor growth, recruitment, retention and the continued expansion of the organization’s national platform.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of the national growth strategy with accountability for advisor retention, engagement, recruitment, and net organic asset growth.
- Partner with executive leadership to establish growth priorities and capital allocation decisions and create and maintain a multi-year roadmap to achieve AUA, advisor recruitment, EBITDA and revenue growth objectives.
- Develop and execute recruitment strategies for high-performing CIRO advisory teams, bank advisors, independent wealth managers, and succession opportunities and act as a senior relationship manager for prospective recruits and strategic opportunities.
- Devise advisor practice growth programs focused on: client acquisition, referral generation, high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth client growth, wallet-share expansion, succession planning and practice management excellence.
- Serve as the executive relationship owner for the firm’s advisory teams and champion the advisor perspective within Head Office to ensure advisor needs are appropriately represented in corporate decision-making.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with advisors across the firm’s network through regular field engagement and office visits.
- As part of the executive leadership team, participate in strategic planning and annual operating plan development and contribute to enterprise-wide decision-making and governance.
- Present growth initiatives, performance metrics, and strategic recommendations to the Executive Team and Board.
Desired Qualifications
- A university degree in business, finance, economics or a related discipline is preferred. Significant experience within the Canadian wealth management industry, ideally within an advisor-led, independent wealth management, investment dealer or financial services environment.
- Demonstrated experience building and leading national business development or growth organizations.
- Proven track record of driving business growth, including advisor recruitment, net organic asset growth, business development and/or the expansion of advisor practices.
- Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills, with an ability to articulate a compelling value proposition and navigate complex or sensitive advisor discussions.
- Collaborative leadership style and demonstrated ability to work effectively across functions including Operations, Compliance, Technology, Marketing, Product and Client Service.
- Highly relationship-oriented, entrepreneurial and externally focused, with the presence and credibility to represent the organization with both existing and prospective advisors.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted senior-level relationships and influence effectively in an environment where many key stakeholders are not direct reports.
Please note that at present, legal eligibility to work in Canada is a prerequisite for this role.
